basic relationship

the simplicity of love

Zen and Shirayuki meet after Shirayuki flees the Tanbarun Kingdom from Prince Raji. After initial distrust, Zen comes to realise that Shirayuki is a honest girl and begins to trust her. Already, we can see the bond they have for each other in the first chapter, with their easy-going bickering and conversations. Zen even trusts her to the extent with his life; for he takes a bit of an apple that was sent by Prince Raji to Shirayuki, poisoning himself for the sake of Shirayuki.

Zen and Shirayuki have complimenting personalities which harmonise perfectly. Both of them hold a great deal of respect for each other, despite their differing ranks. In fact, Shirayuki calls Zen by his name only, without the honorific 'sama' demonstrating that she sees Zen for who he is, not what he is (a prince). Zen and Shirayuki both believe in fate and are independent people, not allowing each other to interfere with the paths that they truly want to walk on, but support each other along the way.

Their love is beautiful and has substance behind it. It's not just boy meets girl and girl/boy instantly falls in love with boy/girl. You get to see the growing bond, the affection and respect behind it all.

"The path that I walk on...the flag of the guidepost, the footsteps of walking forward...the hand holding hand..."

Impressions

I adore this couple so much! They have a beautiful and sweet bond that makes me feel warm and fuzzy. The way Zen cares for Shirayuki and the way Shirayuki strives her best so that they can be together is amazing. Their love is pure and believable - and I think that's what draws me to it.
